All of the fire stations in Goochland routinely do public education classes for kids at school, camps, 4-H, Scouts and field trips to teach them fire safety. This year due to the pandemic we have not been able to reach out to our community as we normally do. During fire prevention week it is important to learn what causes fire, how to prevent fires and safety. Children are incredibly smart, but they aren’t born knowing, they have to be taught. Make sure you you spend time this week to share some of these resources with your kids so that they too can help prevent fires, but more importantly know what to do in case of an emergency. Make a plan and practice it.
**As always check your smoke detectors and replace the batteries often**
